From last night’s Sabres vs Leafs game.
Best part is that he was with his son, who had on a Montreal Jersey.
It may be a meaningless game but it is the first time in 5 months we’ve had Sabres hockey so I think it deserves some discussion. Sabres Edge also released the anticipated lineup for tomorrow which makes for a good mix of veteran Sabres along with some new comers.
Thomas Vanek-Derek Roy-Drew Stafford
Luke Adam-Tim Connolly-Jason Pominville
Tyler Ennis-Rob Niedermayer-Zack Kassian
Nathan Gerbe-Paul Gaustad-Cody McCormick
Shaone Morrisonn-Tyler Myers
Chris Butler-Drew Schiestel
Mike Weber-Andrej Sekera
Miller and Enroth will be splitting time in the crease. From the off-season deal with Lalime I imagine he has the number 2 spot locked up but with the remote chance Enroth will see a few games (scary, huh?) I guess it’s best to get him some experience.
The first line of Roy, Vanek, and Stafford looks like it will be sticking together for at least the start of the preseason. Maybe this is the year they finally click? The Gerbe, Gaustad, and McCormick line also has a chance in my mind of seeing the regular season. The others will probably see some shuffling as the pre-season progresses and players are sent to Portland.
Defensive pairings are fairly straight forward as Morrisonn will be paired with Myers and may be the actual main defensive pairing once October 8th rolls around.
Puck drops at 7PM tomorrow after a long off-season. I’ll be camped out in the 200 section taking advantage of not having to get up and fight through crowds for a beer. I’ll be updating the action occasionally on twitter so follow me if you can’t wait till the 11PM delayed taping on NHL Network.
