Game Preview – Sabres vs Canadiens

September 30, 2010 Leave a comment Go to comments

The Sabres continue their pre-season week with a trip north to take on the Canadiens in Montreal.  The Sabres are coming off of a 2-1 win Tuesday night in Hockeyville against Ottawa and are looking to improve their meaningless pre-season record to 3-1 with a win tonight.

The lineup has been released with more veterans getting playing time as the rookies are sent back to the junior leagues and the AHL.

Thomas Vanek-Derek Roy-Drew Stafford

Jochen Hecht-Tim Connolly-Jason Pominville

Nathan Gerbe-Luke Adam-Mark Mancari

Matt Ellis-Paul Byron-Mark Parrish

Chris Butler-Tyler Myers

Jordan Leopold-Drew Schiestel

Mike Weber-Steve Montador

As you can’t see they’re getting the team molded into more of an NHL caliber team so some of these lines could be seen when the Sabres open the season in Ottawa next Friday.

Kassian, while still in Buffalo, doesn’t appear as if he’ll see the ice tonight.  The goalies have yet to be announced.  Rivet and Kaleta are currently out with throat and neck injuries respectively and even though it might prevent them from shaking the off-season rust it does allow the coaching staff to get a better look at the younger guys.  From the sounds of it both will be ready for action opening night.

7:30PM face-off tonight.  NHL Network will be airing it but chances are it will be blacked out like the other games.  WGR will be carrying the radio feed as usual and if you’d like video there’s always typical internet sites for that sort of stuff.
