A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words

A simple picture really can be worth 1000 words as shown here when Jonathan Toews spends his day with the cup, courtesy of the Chicago Tribune.  If this was any other sporting league their playoff MVP would be in a limo with security guards instead of taking mass transit.  I doubt many other league’s players would be hanging out with their little cousin instead of their “posse” either.  It’s the little things like this that make hockey an amazing sport.  The players seem super-human on the ice but when the skates come off they really are no different than us.  I mean look at this face, he seems just as irritated about riding a bus as most of us.

Look even deeper and you can see just how amazing a tradition the Stanley Cup is.   I can guarantee you will never see the Vince Lombardi trophy on a bus.  The Cup on the other hand is borderline abused for the summer and why not, that one day with the cup is well deserved.  Now I’m just waiting for it to come to Buffalo…in the hands of a Sabre.
